Becoming a mother is the dream of many women around the world. It is an inborn quality felt by women once they reach adulthood.
The feeling of nurturing a life within the womb for nine months and giving birth to a baby; it is nothing less than a beautiful dream.
It takes a good amount of effort to become pregnant. The whole process includes:
1. Getting to know your menstrual cycle is important. The ovary releases one or two eggs every month.
2. The ripest egg travels through the Fallopian tube to reach the uterus. All this happens from days 2 to 14 after your menstrual cycle has started.
3. Sexual intercourse ensures the entry of sperms in the female body. This entry is made easier by the cervical mucus.
4. The uterus lining gets thickened to fertilize the egg. The follicle stimulating hormone or FSH is responsible for making the eggs grow inside the ovary.
5. If the egg properly receives the sperm in the uterus, fertilization takes place.
Not every woman in the world is blessed enough to conceive naturally. Many underlying factors don’t make it possible. Does that mean you give up hopes of becoming a mother? Definitely not! It becomes important to go to a fertility clinic in such situations. It has proven to be a boon for many women who have trouble getting pregnant. But how do fertility clinics work? Let’s find out.
1. TEST
Your health will be evaluated first of all. Several blood tests would be taken to check the levels of different hormones like:
- Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH)
- Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH)
- Luteinizing Hormone (LH)
- Estradiol
- Prolactin
Your spouse/partner will also undergo some tests. You both will also have to undergo tests to make sure you aren’t suffering from any serious infections/diseases. All these tests and their following results help the doctor recommend the best treatment for you.
An ultrasound is also done to check the nature and condition of your uterus.
2. TREATMENT
If everything is normal after the test results, the doctor proceeds with the best treatment suited for your body (and your future baby). There are usually four methods adopted by the doctor to cause ovulation:
- With insemination- The sperm is inserted into the uterus via a tube.
- Without insemination- Orally taking pills for ovulation.
- Superovulation- This is mainly meant for women post 35 or having fertility issues.
- IVF- The sperm and egg are combined in external conditions before introducing into the female’s body.
In case your test reports suggest problems, do not worry. The doctor will suggest medicines or surgery to remove those issues before proceeding further.
3. CHECK-UP
Congratulations! Now that you have a little life growing inside of you, it is important to do a follow-up every few weeks. This will determine your health and how healthy the fetus is growing. Doctors may suggest some additional tests to keep track of your pregnancy hormone. They would suggest the prenatal care steps to be taken by you and your partner.
So do not worry if you can’t get pregnant naturally. The fertility clinic out there will help you meet your little one easily.
