Being a great leader is something which many of us aspire to, yet not everyone is prepared to work hard enough to make it a reality. To be great at decision making it is important that you are able to weigh up both sides of the decision, calculate what level of risk is involved and most importantly, that you actually take a decision.
Whether you are praising or your chastising someone, it is absolutely critical that you maintain consistency at all times. If you are able to do this then you give confidence to those who you lead that you will treat everyone fairly no matter who they are and no matter what the issue is. You cannot be seen to be one sided or to have favorites, if you do this then you can be sure that your team will begin to mistrust you and that will ultimately be detrimental to what the team is trying to achieve.
